This is one of my favorite throat sprays to make, not only for sore throats and cold and flu symptoms, also for using as immunity support.
If you are not growing these herbs in your garden, you can find them in a health food store or online.
1/3 cup cut and dried echinacea purpurea roots
1/4 cup dried elderberries
2 firmly packed tablespoons dried sage leaf
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
3 grams star anise; Illicium verum
1 tablespoon honey
1 2/3 cups vodka or brandy OR 1 cup vegetable glycerine and 2/3 cup water
If using alcohol, add your herbs to your jar and cover with vodka or brandy. If using glycerine and water be sure to first mix the glycerin and water together before pouring into the jar.
Let this amazing mixture of herbs steep for 4 weeks then strain and pour into a spray bottle.
Spray to the back of your throat as needed for a sore throat, and or cold and flu symptoms, or for herbal immunity support.
*As with any herbal medicine, check for drug interactions before using.
