I spent some time making ginger wellness shots the other day. I’ll drink one of these little glasses once a week starting in October thru December.
* A note for those with hemochromatosis; Vitamin C increases the absorption rate of both heme and non heme iron.
The oranges and the lemons are not advisable for you. Unless of course you carefully monitor your iron intake.
* And then there's those with arthritis. The citric acid from citrus fruits can aggravate those arthritis symptoms for some people.
Sometimes this feels like such a contradiction. Growing up most of us are taught that these types of foods are healthy for us and we need them in order to maintain a healthy body.
However, this is not true for everyone. Each individual body is unique in the way it processes and utilizes the foods we eat. It's most definitely not a one size fits all.
For this recipe I used :
2 peeled oranges
2 peeled lemons
1 small chunk of turmeric
1 small chunk of ginger
1 clove of garlic - optional
4 Tablespoons coconut water or water
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
Add ingredients to a high powered blender. Blend until smooth. If you do not like pulp, you can pour through a strainer or a milk bag, or drink as is. Delicious and nutritive.
